I'm going to lead this one by letting you get all your giggles out now. Today we're going to talk about suppositories. Are you all chuckled out? Good, because we're going to talk about not just that, butt all of the ways you can consume cannabis without actually smoking or vaping it (including edibles and topicals!) We're also definitely going to broach the highly eluded suppository method. Buckle up.

Edibles

One of the most traditional and best-known smoking alternatives, edibles satisfy both your sweet tooth and desire to consume marijuana. Edibles also have a bit of a reputation for being more potent than traditional smoking methods because of how the liver absorbs and processes ingested cannabinoids into 11-hydroxy-THC. If you're interested in this organic chemical rabbit trail, starthere.

Edibles are also known for being a bit more unpredictable for even the most hardcore smokers and vapers. I personally know people who can eat 100mg and go out to a party, and I know myself, who can have 2.5mg and take a couch-lock nap.

Ultimately, edibles are a wonderful solution for those who don't want to (or cannot for health reasons) experience any of the negative side-effects that come with smoking and vaping. Plus, there are so. Many. Options. To. Try:

Seriously. And if none of these pre-made treats sound good then make some butter, then infuse it into anything you want. Personally, cannabis chicken wings are my thing.

Drinks

Drinksreact to the body in a similar way to edibles, so just be careful you don't get caught in a vicious cycle of thirst-quenching and cottonmouth. They do absorb more quickly, which also means the body processes the THC more quickly for, typically, a shorter-length high than edibles.

Transdermals

Transdermals are among the most subtle ways for cannabis to enter the body. TGS sellsMary's Medicinals, the company most well-known for their prowess in the dermal application field. This option is discreet and perfect for those wanting a quick onset, mellow, and lasting high.

And now, for the method you’ve all been waiting for…

Suppositories

I get it. This is new territory for a lot of people, and oftentimes uncomfortable to talk about. Luckily, you're not reading this out loud to a circle of peers (we hope) so it's less weird.

Hear us out. Suppositories are gaining rapid acceptance as a more medicinally beneficial way to get cannabis into the system due to a more direct line to the bloodstream. Whereas smoking or eating cannabis requires the THC to travel several steps through the body, anal or vaginal application acts as a sort of "fast pass" for benefits. When inserted anally, some sourcessay absorption rate is between 50 – 70%, where otherstudies showthat "Cannabis suppositories deliver around 80 percent of the plant medicine while taking cannabis orally delivers around 35 percent and smoking around 15 percent."

Additionally, cannabis suppositoriesare not known for causing a head high. One woman who used it for menstrual relief remarked at thebliss of feeling physically stoned while not actually being stoned.

Quick Fact

Curing Cannabis Plants- This very gradual drying process involves moderate humidity and mild temperatures, preserving the dimensionality of cannabis plants and the consumption experience. The better and more gradual the curing process, the more sophisticated a grower's yields become, including preserved aromas, flavors, and potency.
